The Golden State Warriors have decided to sit out their star point guard Stephen Curry for the next two games, after he suffered a sprained ankle in the opening minutes of the first quarter against the San Antonio Spurs, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic. Curry won't travel with the team, instead, staying at home, rehabbing his ankle.

The All-Star point guard would miss two pivotal matchups, one against the third-placed Portland Trail Blazers, winners of eight straight, and the next against the sixth place Minnesota Timberwolves, who have lost three in a row.

Curry attempted a layup with his off-hand, was fouled, and then miss-stepped on the trailing Dejounte Murray's shoe, causing him to turn his right ankle, the same he previously hurt against the Atlanta Hawks last week and one which he's had surgically repaired in 2011 and 2012.

Though it is considered a mild sprain, the Warriors are being awfully careful with this injury, given his injury history and the fact that he's injured this ankle four times this season alone — a reason for concern.

Golden State managed to edge the Spurs in a 110-107 thriller, thanks to Kevin Durant's fascinating play down the stretch, scoring 14 consecutive points to put the team ahead, including 15 of the last 19 points scored in the game.

By resting Curry, he will have a little over five whole days to recover from the injury before taking on a relatively-friendly schedule against the Los Angeles Lakers, Sacramento Kings, and the Phoenix Suns next week.

Additionally, Slater reported that rookie Jordan Bell will also miss the next two games due to an ankle injury.
