We might have an interesting Golden State Warriors battle in our hands. Bay Area legend Baron Davis initially mentioned that their “We Believe” squad could give the star-studded 2016-17 Warriors crew a run for their money. The former two-time All-Star mentioned that their 2006-07 team would take the 2017 champions all the way to Game 7 if they fought in a series. Obviously, Stephen Curry wasn't having any of it (via Marcus Thompson of The Athletic).

“I expect nothing less from BD. Don't get me wrong, BD was nice. But he probably wouldn't be a good GM if he thinks that.”

Get your popcorns ready.

To echo Curry, Davis and the rest of the 2016-17 Warriors were indeed nice. The Don Nelson-led unit was a fun bunch to watch and historically toppled the league-leading Dallas Mavericks in the first round of the NBA Playoffs, making them the first eighth-seeded team to beat a no. 1 team in recent memory. The squad led by Davis also had the likes of Monta Ellis, Al Harrington, Stephen Jackson, Jason Richardson, and Matt Barnes.

Curry, who was drafted by the Warriors in 2009, spearheaded a much more successful line-up a decade after with the likes of Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. Though this modern-day Warriors squad lacked size compared to Davis' team, the Curry era Warriors proved how size didn't really matter as long as the buckets were dropping.

Oh, and in case you forgot, Stephen Curry wasn't even the best player on that team. It was Durant who led the Warriors to the title in two consecutive years. Who's guarding KD, BD?
