Stephen Curry couldn't help for his Golden State Warriors teammate DeMarcus Cousins, who suffered a serious injury early in the first quarter of Monday's Game 2 against the L.A. Clippers.

Cousins picked off a Danilo Gallinari pass at mid-court and chased after the loose ball, soon falling to the hardwood and clutching his left quadriceps as the ball went out of bounds.

Curry, who watched it all unfold, noted how tough it is to watch his walk off the court, considering he recently came back from a near 12-month injury that ultimately landed him with the Warriors on a one-year deal.

“It's tough, for sure. You feel for him considering what he's been through this last year,” said Curry after the game, according to Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic. “This is a big stage, the playoffs. He's been looking forward to this. I don't know the extent of the injury at this point. Hope he gets back sooner than later. Just man-to-man in terms of him, what he's been through, it's tough for sure.

“There's no sugarcoating it at all. You hate seeing that opportunity again on this big stage taken away from him like that.”

Cousins played his first playoff game this past Saturday, the first in his nine-year career in the NBA. The big man would last only four minutes on the floor before limping to the locker room.

The Warriors await an MRI result to confirm the damage, reportedly bracing for the worst, which could be a torn quad, effectively ending his season.
