Stephen Curry, Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors still have one roster spot open heading to training camp, but it looks less likely that the Dubs would fill that with a center.

Not that they are closing their doors for additional center help to make life easier for Curry and Co., but as Kerr noted, the way the modern NBA is being played makes it better for the Warriors to continue their small ball style of play.

Golden State has James Wiseman and Kevon Looney as true big men, but like last season, they can simply utilize Draymond Green and Juan Toscano-Anderson at the five for their small ball.

“I think the league has changed quite a bit,” Steve Kerr told Tim Kawakami on the TK Show podcast, via NBC Sports. “I know if you look at our team historically over the last six, seven years, we’ve always carried a lot of centers. But think about the last part of last season, we played Draymond at five so much, we even played Juan at five. The league seems to be getting smaller and quicker every single year.

“So I think we’re less inclined to carry a bunch of centers like we used to. But really, if we had somebody in there who was playing well at that position and thought they could help us win, then we would keep that guy. It’s really still a matter of using training camp to figure out what makes the most sense for us.”

The Warriors have been linked with Kevin Love and Marc Gasol throughout the offseason, so it's not surprising why there are talks about the team getting an additional big man before the 2021-22 season starts. However, it would be understandable if they keep that roster spot open or instead fill it with a guard who can back up Stephen Curry

By the looks of it, the Dubs haven't make a decision yet despite training camp nearing and the new campaign less than a month away. Nonetheless, there's certainly no rush since the lineup is pretty set already.
