At the moment, there is no clear timetable for the return of Golden State Warriors prized big man James Wiseman. The 20-year-old was originally expected to return at some point in January, but the fact that he had to undergo an arthroscopic procedure on his injured knee further pushed back his season debut.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr recently spoke out about Wiseman's extended rehab process. According to Kerr, he too has been left at a loss by Wiseman's current predicament:

“This has just not been an easy one to figure out,” Kerr said, via Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle. “We’re still hopeful he’ll be cleared for contact soon. There just hasn’t been an opportunity for that to happen this week.”

Kerr then went on to admit that there has been some growing frustration brought about by the injury, particularly from the end of Wiseman himself:

“There’s just been this extended time that he’s been out that’s just been most frustrating for him,” Kerr said. “The beat goes on. We’re still very hopeful that this is all going to happen, that he’s going to be out there soon in contact circumstances, in practice.

“But at this point, I’m also aware I’m the boy who cried wolf a little bit. When it happens, it happens. I’ll let you know.”

The Warriors should still get Wiseman back this season, but it is completely understandable that the frustration is starting to boil over — both for the Dubs and Wiseman himself. The former Memphis standout played just 39 games in his rookie campaign last year before suffering a season-ending injury.

The good news for the young Dubs center is that he still remains to be part of Golden States' plans for the future. Earlier reports revealed that the Warriors have no intention of including Wiseman in potential trade talks as the deadline draws closer. The Dubs still consider their second overall pick from the 2020 NBA Draft as a key piece of their core and they certainly intend to keep him for the long haul.
