Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has been forced to navigate a long NBA season amid rumors of his star Kevin Durant departing at the end of the 2018-19 campaign, along with the uncertainty of his next landing spot. However, neither Kerr nor his players have been shaken from this can of worms.

“You gotta have a stable foundation,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr told Howard Beck of Bleacher Report. “If you have that, then you can withstand that stuff. … And you don't have to listen to all the drama. Or you don't have to act on it. You can hear it, but you don't have to do anything.”

Rather than shying away from the issue, Kerr said the Warriors discussed Durant's free agency openly as a team, yet opted to focus on the here and now — quickly re-shifting to the task at hand, rather than fixating on something that escapes their hands.

“We've talked about it, several times during the year,” Kerr said. “It's kind of a good life lesson, too: Who the hell knows what's gonna happen tomorrow? So you enjoy today, and whatever the hell happens is gonna happen, but let's take advantage of this situation, which I think we really have. We've had a fantastic season, great run, and here we are in the Finals with a chance to win another championship.”

The more pressing issue at this point, is if Kerr and the Warriors will have Durant at some point in these NBA Finals, able to make a difference and help them make one last push for the elusive three-peat, still three wins away from it.
