The finale episode for Disney+'s Loki has just been released and it was absolutely glorious. But why didn't Mobius recognize Loki at the end?

WARNING! MAJOR SPOILERS!

During the final moments of the episode, Loki goes into full panic mode and tries to search for Mobius to warn him of what lies ahead. And by that, we mean Sylvie's horrible decision of killing He Who Remains. However, during their confrontation, Mobius simply tells Loki to calm down and relax while saying “who are you?”

The camera then shifts its focus to Loki who seems to be in shock due to everything that was happening. He starts to look outside the window and there it was. The statue of He Who Remains or more famously known in Marvel as Kang the Conqueror. At least the evil version of him fans know and love (or hate).

So basically what happened is that after Sylvie finally killed He Who Remains, the main timeline became damaged beyond repair. He Who Remains warned both Loki and Sylvie that his death will bring about variants of himself who are far worse. That his goal was simply to keep everything in check.

His death finally unleashed the evil Kang and has probably already messed up the timeline to his advantage. This event probably caused everyone in the TVA to forget about what happened. Leading them to believe that the TVA is still doing the right thing.
