However, being the best team in any league means never being content with what you have. The Yanks are taking that message to heart heading into the MLB trade deadline.
Despite their pristine record, the Yankees are looking to make some blockbuster trades by August 2. A name that has popped up for the team in the last few days is Royals star Andrew Benintendi. According to recent reports, the team is looking to acquire the star in exchange for struggling hitter Joey Gallo.
Benintendi has been one of the few bright spots on a struggling Royals team this season. While he isn't lighting it up like some of his peers, he is posting pretty good stats across the board. Getting him on board would add more firepower to an already potent hitting lineup.
On the other hand, Joey Gallo has been downright terrible for the Yankees this season. The former Texas Rangers hitter continued his struggles from last season, striking out at an alarming rate. He's hitting well below his career averages, and it doesn't seem to end anytime soon. A change of scenery would benefit both the Yanks and Gallo himself.
