The New York Jets own the third overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Unfortunately for them, they own just six selections in this draft. By drafting their franchise quarterback in 2018, the Jets look to be a team willing to trade down this year to acquire additional picks.

New York has had a busy offseason thus far. With a number of key free agent acquisitions, the Jets are looking to turn the page and become a playoff team in 2019. If they can find a way to acquire some additional picks, particularly in the early rounds, that could be what pushes them over the top.

There are a number of teams that need a quarterback. A number of others are looking to add a quality defender from this draft class. Therefore, there should be a number of suitors for the Jets to trade with come draft night.

Let's take a look at some of the most likely candidates.

3. Washington Redskins

It's no secret that the Redskins are in need of a quarterback. Washington, however, owns the 15th pick this year, and it's unlikely that a quarterback of their liking will fall to them at that spot.

The Redskins have been in this situation before. In 2012, they made the blockbuster deal with the then St. Louis Rams to move into the No. 2 pick. They used that pick to take Robert Griffin III. Obviously, that didn't work out, and the Redskins continue to find themselves in search of a franchise quarterback.

Jay Gruden, Redskins

There's no way that Washington would give New York a similar deal as they did the Rams seven years ago. They understand, however, that it's going to take a huge haul to move into the top three.

Washington has enough ammunition to get a deal done though. The Redskins were awarded four compensatory picks, bringing their total to 11. The Jets would be very wise to pick up the phone if the Redskins are calling or simply reach out themselves.

2. Denver Broncos

The Broncos' search for a quarterback has also been the worst kept secret in the NFL. Since Peyton Manning's retirement, John Elway has gone every possible route in search of a franchise quarterback. They made the first move this offseason by trading for Joe Flacco in return for a fourth-round pick. Despite that, there's still a belief that Denver will look to take a quarterback with their first selection.

John Elway, Broncos

Denver owns the 10th overall pick, and it remains unknown as to whether or not one of the top three quarterbacks will be there. For several months, the Broncos have been linked to Drew Lock. There is a considerable chance that Lock will still be on the board.

If Denver has their sights on Kyler Murray or Dwayne Haskins, however, then they're going to need to move up to get them.

A trade between the Broncos and Jets makes sense for both teams. The Broncos would be in the position to get their franchise player. In return, they can give the Jets what they are looking for.

New York does not own a second or fifth-round pick this year. Denver owns a pair of fifth-round picks, and would likely be more than happy to part with one of them along with their second-round selection (41 overall) to move up. This would still allow the Jets to draft a quality player within the top 10.

Eli Manning

1. New York Giants

It makes a ton of sense for a trade between Metlife teams. The Giants own 12 picks in this draft, including two first-rounders. They may be reluctant to part with both to move up three spots. On the other hand, if they are willing to use both to move up then the Jets really can't afford to say no.

Even if the Giants do not agree to part with both first-rounders, they own enough picks in this draft to get a fair deal done. As it stands, the Giants are giving off the impression that they are not interested in Haskins. This after they had been mocked to him for the past couple of months.

Now, the word is that the Giants plan to use the sixth pick on a pass rusher with the possibility that the Giants could rely on Eli Manning for the next couple of seasons. Truth be told, it sounds a lot like a smokescreen. It's very possible that the Giants are trying to hide their love for Haskins in hopes that he falls to them. That strategy could work, but as we get closer to the draft, it's more likely they'll need to move up in order to secure grabbing him.
