In a surprising move, the Philadelphia Eagles have officially parted ways with head coach Doug Pederson.

Although Philadelphia did encounter quite a tumultuous season in 2020, Pederson led the Eagles to the only Super Bowl title in the history of the franchise not too long ago.

Nonetheless, the Eagles have become the latest NFL franchise in need of a new head coach this offseason while Philadelphia better get moving on its search. There are more than a few coveted candidates at the present moment.

Robert Saleh, San Francisco 49ers Defensive Coordinator

The Philadelphia Eagles need a boost in morale after quite the depressing ending to the team's season in 2020-21. If you have ever watched a San Francisco 49ers game over the course of the last several seasons, you have probably noticed defensive coordinator Robert Saleh, who is almost never not amped up along the sideline. In addition to his extremely high level of football knowledge, especially on defense, Saleh's presence could ultimately become the shot in the arm that the dismal Eagles need right now. It is just as important for this franchise to find a head coach that will turn its locker room and culture around as it is to patrol the sideline.

Arthur Smith, Tennessee Titans Offensive Coordinator

The Tennessee Titans encountered immense success on the offensive side of the football in 2020-21. Despite an early exit from the postseason, the Titans won the team's first division title in 12 years while producing a 2,000-yard rusher in All-Pro running back Derrick Henry. With head coach Mike Vrabel assisting mostly with the defense, the Titans' offense was fully in the hands of second-year offensive coordinator Arthur Smith. With Smith turning both the aforementioned Henry and quarterback Ryan Tannehill loose over the course of the last two seasons, it is possible that he can get pretty creative with quarterback Jalen Hurts, running back Miles Sanders and the other offensive weapons employed by the Eagles. It is also worth noting that Smith has previous experience with complicated quarterback situations as well with the Titans trotting out both Tannehill and current Las Vegas Raiders signal caller Marcus Mariota in 2019-20. Of course, the Eagles presently have Hurts and disgruntled quarterback Carson Wentz at its disposal.

Eric Bieniemy, Kansas City Chiefs Offensive Coordinator

For whatever reason, according to multiple reports from throughout the week, teams seem to be passing up on the opportunity to potentially hire current Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy for the second consecutive offseason. Entering this cycle of head coaches as one of the top candidates on the market, or so it was initially believed, perhaps the Eagles can once again get lucky by making a hire from under the Andy Reid umbrella. The Eagles are in desperate need of someone to recalibrate the team's offensive attack — and fast — as things are getting out of hand quickly in the “City of Brotherly Love.” At this point, there is no doubting Bieniemy as the Chiefs remain in line for back-to-back Super Bowl titles as the team's offense continues to serve as its backbone — and then some.

Marvin Lewis, Former Cincinnati Bengals Head Coach

The situation with the Philadelphia Eagles doesn't really seem all that stable. If the Eagles are looking to right the ship in a hurry, which appears to be the case, the struggling NFC East franchise must look toward a head coach with NFL experience, who can come in and hit the ground running. With former Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis currently interviewing and back in the mix for a NFL job, perhaps this is the least risky move to make for the Eagles. Although Lewis did not find much postseason success during his time in Cincinnati, the longtime NFL head coach did lead his team to the postseason on a frequent basis in addition to overseeing a professional locker room setting.

Jason Garrett, New York Giants Offensive Coordinator & Former Dallas Cowboys Head Coach

This is probably a very unlikely scenario but are we not allowed to have some fun? After serving as the Dallas Cowboys head coach for what seemed like forever before finally parting ways with the once heralded NFC East franchise following the 2019-20 campaign, Jason Garrett then served as the New York Giants offensive coordinator in 2020-21. With Garrett experiencing at least some success in New York despite not really being dealt the best hand, Garrett is once again landing head coaching interviewing early on in the offseason this time around. Why not keep the NFC East carousel rolling by becoming the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles next?
