Leaving Fnatic was already a big deal for the fans of Martin “Rekkles” Larsson. But to add salt to the wounds, he'll be calling Fnatic's biggest rivals, G2 Esports, his new home. G2 Esports and Fnatic are the two halves of what may be considered the LEC's most iconic rivalries.

The star ADC enjoyed a fruitful eight-year career with Fnatic. With him leaving, there's a huge gap that's left behind. The gap might just be too huge to fill, as fans wonder how Fnatic's future will fare moving forward. You can't simply replace your franchise player of eight years with a flick of a finger.

Meanwhile, Rekkles is likely to fit in with his new team. He's replacing Luka “Perkz” Perković, who, like him, had a storied career with G2 Esports before leaving his long-time team.

Unlike Perkz before him, Rekkles is a natural carry for the team. It should be noted that Perkz used to play in the middle lane. But when the superstar and midlane prodigy Rasmus “Caps” Borregaard arrived in G2 Esports, Perkz was forced to move to the bottom lane. It is worth noting that just like Rekkles, Caps jumped ship to G2 Esports from Fnatic. While Perkz wasn't bad at his new role, he was better as a midlaner. With Rekkles coming in, G2 Esports might just have the best bottom lane they've had in years.

Tipping the scales further

Fnatic and G2 Esports' rivalry has been going on for ages. The two teams are considered to be two of the strongest teams in the league, consistently appearing in Worlds in years past. However, the last couple of seasons have been particularly harsh for Fnatic. They faced each other in both the Spring and Summer splits of this year, and G2 Esports swept Fnatic both times. G2's also one upped Fnatic in the World championship, as G2 consistently finished between 2nd and 4th place in the last three iterations. Fnatic, meanwhile, had to settle for 5th-8th in the past two years, and 2nd in 2018.
