Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard noticed a wild quote circulating online, attributed to none other than himself. The fake comments suggested Syndergaard took some totally unnecessary shots at Mookie Betts and the Dodgers, while comparing Shohei Ohtani to Babe Ruth. Syndergaard took to Twitter to clear the air over the fake quotes and ensure no one believed the nonsense being attributed to him.

A Twitter account called FAX Sports MLB shared the falsified quotes from Syndergaard, which read “No one in this clubhouse is scared of those guys. [The Dodgers'] leadoff hitter is vegan… ours is the modern day Babe Ruth.”

The Angels' star adamantly denied making such outlandish remarks, saying via Twitter, “Mookie can eat whatever the hell he wants, he's a beast.”

While Syndergaard likely didn't plan on bringing these comments further into the limelight, he revealed he received a text from his mother asking him why he would make negative remarks about Mookie Betts. After getting that text, the Angels' pitcher realized he better clear the air, rather than let fans remain ill-informed.

The former Mets' hurler is gearing up for his debut season with the Angels, and he's not looking to get distracted by unnecessary outside noise. Rather than let these fake comments turn into something, Syndergaard is nipping the rumor in the bud and avoiding the drama altogether.

After signing a one-year deal with the Angels this offseason, Syndergaard is aiming for a bounce-back season after injuries have cost him the better part of the past two seasons.
