Apex Legends data miners are back at it again, leaking upcoming updates for the game. This time around, they revealed a potential throwable – a cryo grenade, coming to the game. Shaped similar to the Thermite Grenade, the cryo grenade possibly is an area-of-effect throwable, dealing continuous damage over time.

After ten long seasons of Apex Legends, we’ve seen massive waves of updates come to the game. Respawn has given us new legends each season and occasionally adding new weapons in select few seasons. However, one aspect of the game never got as much attention. Throwables never got any buffs or nerfs, neither did we get new ones. Well, all that is going to change because the new Cryo Grenades are coming to Apex Legends.

YouTuber Shrugtal showcased the cryo grenade’s 3D model and briefly discusses how it could potentially work. The video clearly shows that the 3D model is still in its early development stage. Shrugtal estimates that the cryo grenade could potentially release sometime next season. The cryo grenade is most likely the exact opposite of the Thermite Grenade. Instead of bursting flames in the area, the new throwable could possibly create icy winds, slowing down opponents while slightly damaging them.

If ever the datamine proves to be accurate, the Apex Legends cryo grenade would work wonders in team fights. Imagine slowing down a charging Octane and knocking him down for the count thanks to an assist from the cryo grenade. For now, let’s wait for Respawn to make further announcements regarding the new throwable.
