Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum is the latest NBA personality to take a shot at New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees for the latter's controversial comments pertaining to the kneeling protests of Colin Kaepernick. At the same time, McCollum also heaped praise on Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers, who on the other hand, took the side of Kaepernick.

McCollum took to Twitter to make his thoughts known:

Brees has been in hot water ever since he said on a Yahoo interview that he “will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America,” in reference to Kaepernick taking the knee in protest during the playing of the national anthem. None other than Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James blasted Brees for missing the point entirely. CJ McCollum is obviously on the same boat with James here and his criticism of Brees' comments.

Contrary to Brees' remarks, Rodgers took to Instagram to explain why he firmly believes in these forms of protests. According to the Packers star, it was never about disrespecting the flag or the nation.

McCollum could not agree more with Rodgers here, and as the Blazers two-guard said in his tweet, it is exactly this line of thinking that we all need today — and definitely not that of Brees.

The issues on racial discrimination that was brought about by the recent death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police has become one of the most polarizing social issues in recent history. Nearly anybody and everybody has their own take on the matter, and as demonstrated by the backlash received by Brees, it is almost unavoidable that criticism will likely follow, regardless of which side you're on.
