There is no doubt that Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard is one of the most prolific scorers not only in today's NBA, but perhaps throughout the history of the sport. Dame is well aware of his offensive prowess, so much so that he actually believes he can someday thump Kobe Bryant's long-standing 81-point scoring record.

The Blazers star made the bold claim in a recent appearance on the “Dan Patrick Show,” wherein he also named a handful of players that he believes are capable of matching the Los Angeles Lakers legend's insane scoring explosion some 15 years ago.

“If somebody gets close to Kobe’s 81, I think it would be between me, Steph … Devin Booker can really get hot,” the Blazers All-Star said, via Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports. “I would say someone on Brooklyn, but with all three of them being out there, it’s going to be tough. So I would say me, Steph, Devin Booker …

“Klay could do it. I think Bradley Beal can do it too.”

With how the game has evolved in today's NBA, it actually wouldn't be surprising if Kobe's record is thumped sooner rather than later. On a perfect night, Lillard could actually be capable of doing so. The same can be said for Stephen Curry, Devin Booker, Klay Thompson, Bradley Beal, and maybe a handful of other players in the NBA today.

For Lillard though, it looks like the Blazers point guard has already envisioned how this scoring outburst might happen for him.

“It’s going to take a crazy night, but it can happen,” Lillard explained. “It would have to be against a team with a big that is not mobile. Because they wouldn’t be able to be as high like in pick-n-rolls and stuff like that.”

It goes without saying that Damian Lillard would love to do this in front of his adoring home crowd now that fans have been allowed back into the Moda Center to watch Blazers games in the flesh. We'd definitely love to see this happen sometime soon. We're pretty sure the late, great Kobe Bryant will be smiling down from heaven when it does.
