The NFL offseason is nearly over, and preseason is creeping up quickly. Unfortunately for Leonard Fournette, the progression of the offseason comes with rumors of weight gain. Recent reports claim that the running back showed up to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' mandatory minicamp weighing a lot more than he did last season.

First reported by Rich Stroud, Fournette allegedly came to minicamp at “damn near 260 [pounds].” This was the first time he officially practiced with the team in the offseason after bypassing OTAs. If this is true, Fournette is roughly 32 pounds heavier than his 218-pound listing from last season.

Since Stroud's first report came out, fans and media outlets have been running with the story. However, Leonard Fournette isn't letting the noise get to him.

“They wouldn't have the same energy in your face so why entertain them,” Fournette tweeted Tuesday afternoon.

“See y'all September 11,” he wrote, referring to the Buccaneers' Week 1 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.

Clearly, Leonard Fournette isn't too concerned about his weight or any of the rumors surrounding it. Whether he gained 32 pounds or any weight at all, Fournette seems steadfast on his goals this coming season.

Meanwhile, per Stroud's original report, Buccaneers coaches allegedly were “not happy” with Fournette's offseason appearance.

Of course, speed and stamina are crucial aspects of any running back's game. Fournette managed to become one of the top running backs in the league because of his agility and ability to move the ball up the field. Any extra weight could be detrimental to his star-caliber play.
