Old habits die hard.

Charles Oakley is still living up to that axiom as clearly exemplified by the back fist hit he laid right on Al Harrington's face during a BIG3 contest between Oakley's Killer 3s squad and Harrington's Trilogy.

Oakley announced last week that he'll be going beyond his role of coaching the Killer 3s and play for his team against Trilogy , the only undefeated team left in the first season of Ice Cube's 3-on-3 league. While Oakley and company ended up losing the contest, 50-41, he sure satisfied fans who were curious to see whether the 19-year NBA veteran is still the same merciless mammoth they used to regularly see lay out bodies on the floor during his NBA days.

The NBA of today has been drawing flack from all directions for its perceived softness, so Oakley's clocking of Harrington, and the latter's reaction that basically embraces the physicality instead of acting wildly against it, sends a strong message across the basketball world that if you're looking to get your fix for old-school brand of hoops, the BIG3 is a great alternative.

Oakley retired playing in the NBA in 2004 after 19 years in the pros. But 13 years away from the game appear to have done little in terms of diminishing Oak's physicality on the hard court. Let Harrington's face serve as a warning.
