Los Angeles Clippers guard Patrick Beverley venerated Portland Trail Blazers star point guard Damian Lillard on Friday while appearing on the “Knuckleheads” podcast alongside Quentin Richardson and Darius Miles.

Speaking about the most difficult point guards to defend, Beverley, one of the preeminent perimeter defenders in the NBA, righteously argued for Western Conference foe Lillard. Via the “Knuckleheads” podcast (h/t Reddit user u/Your_Personal_Jesus):

Richardson and Miles were former draft picks by the Clippers and played for the LA team in the early 2000s. Miles, 37, was the third overall pick in 2000, selected by Los Angeles. The 6-foot-9 small forward played with the Clippers for two seasons before being traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the summer of 2002 in the Andre Miller deal.

Richardson, 39, was drafted by Los Angeles with the 18th pick in the first round of the same draft, appearing for the Clips for four seasons after which he signed as a free agent with the Phoenix Suns in 2004.

The Clippers re-signed the veteran, defensive-minded 31-year-old  Beverley over the offseason. The 6-foot-1 point guard spent the last two seasons with LA; before that, he spent a five-year tenure with the Houston Rockets.

Patrick Beverley averaged 7.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.8 assists in 27.4 minutes per game last season for the Clippers, appearing in 78 contests. He shot 40.7% from the field, 39.7% from 3-point range, and 78.0% from the free throw line. LA re-signed him to a three-year, $40 million contract in the summer.

Lillard is a four-time All-Star and former Rookie of the Year who signed an extension with Portland in the offseason.
