Following reports that the Cleveland Cavaliers had engaged in serious talks to land the former league MVP Derrick Rose on a one-year deal, things have taken a more complex turn of events.

Both the Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls have now entered the picture as possible landing spots as they are set to meet with the 28-year-old. According to Sam Amick of USA TODAY Sports, Rose is expected to come to a decision over the weekend.

The Lakers are expected to make a strong pitch to Rose in hopes of luring him away from the Cavaliers. Los Angeles can offer more money to the three-time All-Star and possibly a more defined role. He would also likely have to accept a significant spot off the bench as a mentor to rookie point guard Lonzo Ball.

A return to the Bulls would be quite intriguing as the team is heading into full rebuild mode. That said, he does have the familiarity of spending his first eight years of his career with the team where experienced a huge amount of personal and team success.

Hei is coming off a productive first campaign with the New York Knicks where he averaged 18.0 points, 4.4 assists and 3.8 rebounds in 32.5 minutes in 64 games played. However, his year was cut prematurely short in early April due to a tear in the meniscus in his left knee, which required him to get the fourth knee surgery in his NBA career.
