Free agent Max Scherzer remains a top prize for a plethora of teams looking to bolster their pitching. Because of this, the Los Angeles Dodgers seem to have competition in re-signing their ace, as playoff hopeful teams like the San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Angels, and New York Mets are all in the mix. Scherzer is likely to make a decision before the impending December 1 lockout, per Jon Heyman of MLB Network:

Scherzer had a strong 2021 season, playing for both the Washington Nationals and the Dodgers. The ace was exceptionally good once he was traded to Los Angeles, where he went 7-0 with an ERA of 1.98 in 11 starts. The veteran was an All-Star, as well as a top finalist for the Cy Young award. Moreover, the 37 year old's past track record alleviates concerns of his age, as he does not seem to be slowing down. Scherzer has been an All-Star every year since his 28 year old season (not including the 2020 COVID-19 season), displaying statistical evidence and tangible accomplishments as to why he is so coveted.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are obviously one of the top suitors for Max Scherzer, as his short time with L.A. went exceptionally well. The Dodgers not only have a great chance of fighting for another World Series, but also fit well with the ace, as he did not record a single loss when starting.

Other teams include the Giants and Angels, who are also in the conversation. The Giants could utilize a veteran ace to guide their starting roster after a successful season last year. The Angels could bring in Scherzer to join forces with MVPs Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani, formulating an extremely exciting lineup.

The Mets are in the mix as well, but are less likely to sign the big free agent, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network:

Scherzer has displayed in the past that he wants to stay in California, meaning the location of New York could not be as enticing. The Mets may have to focus their efforts on another top free agent, Kevin Gausman.

The Dodgers seriously have competition when it comes to signing ace Max Scherzer, as all teams looking to sign him have compelling arguments as to why he should go there.
