Entering his 14th year in the NBA next season, Dwight Howard understands that he won’t be able to continue being a dominant force inside the paint especially in the latter stages of his career. That said, the Atlanta Hawks center recently made an appearance on ESPN’s The Jump, where he revealed a facet of his game that he is trying to improve this offseason.

The 31-year-old center admitted that he working on his shooting, especially from beyond the arc, in an attempt to prolong his professional career. He knows it’s something that his fans may see as awkward from him, but the skill set of the young big men in the league today has also forced him to add more offensive weapons to his arsenal.

Howard was the top overall pick in the 2004 draft and quickly made a name for himself as a player who likes to operate near the basket and as a nightmare on defense for opponents. Although the former Defensive Player of the Year winner no longer produces the same numbers like he did early in his career, he continues to be one of the better centers in the league, and is anchoring the defense of the Atlanta Hawks.

With only five career three-pointers to boot so far, it might be better to level the expectations on Dwight Howard, the three-point shooter.
