NBA power couple Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union recently caught headlines after the latter revealed the details of her husband's secret affair nearly a decade ago. Union has now shed more light on the matter as she discussed the possibility of leaving Wade at that point in time.

In her new book, You Got Anything Stronger?, Union said that the woman she is today would not have stayed with Wade in 2013 after he fathered a child with another woman. The Hollywood actress was asked to expound on this sentiment in a recent interview, and she explained why she said what she did in her autobiography:

“Who I am, the healing that I’ve fought for, the peace that I have fought for, I wouldn’t. I just wouldn’t,” Union said (h/t Brad Sullivan of Heat Nation). “That’s not what happened, but there is wisdom from perspective and time and therapy and personal evolution and accountability that changes things.”

“One of the things I learned about giving advice is don’t take advice from anyone doing something about anything that they haven’t succeeded at. So if you’re gonna ask me, a divorced woman who’s had a gang of relationship challenges about what you should do in a relationship, you’ve already failed. I could give you my coulda, woulda, shoulda, but at the end of the day, I didn’t. So be careful when and who you ask for advice about what to do in the moment.”

As Union stated in the interview, she did not leave Dwyane Wade. She stayed. At this point, it does not sound like she regrets that decision. As a matter of fact, it is clear that this has only made her stronger as a woman.

Most folks see Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade as the perfect couple. There is definitely much more than what's on the surface, though, but we need to give these two credit–especially Union–for fighting for their relationship during its most trying times.
