With LeBron James attempting to build a superteam with the Lakers, fans are naturally wondering whether or not James' buddy, Dwyane Wade, will consider making a comeback to join him. But Wade has quickly shut down that talk, taking to Twitter to squelch any chance of him making an NBA return to play for the Lakers and instead mentioning Jimmy Butler as a candidate.

Wade spent four-and-a-half seasons as a teammate of LeBron's.

Of course, Wade and James were teammates on the Miami Heat from the 2010-11 campaign through 2013-14, winning a couple of titles and making the NBA Finals all four years they were together.

Wade then later linked back up with LeBron in Cleveland for the 2017-18 season, but Wade spent just half a season with the Cavaliers before being traded back to the Heat.

The future Hall-of-Famer announced he would be retiring before this past season started and proceeded to play in 72 games, averaging 15 points, 4.2 assists and four rebounds over 26.2 minutes per game while shooting 43.3 percent from the floor, 33 percent from three-point range and 70.8 percent from the free-throw line.

While Wade may have something left in the tank, it's pretty clear that the 37-year-old is serious about staying retired, so it looks like we can officially put any talk of a comeback to rest.

The Lakers swung a blockbuster deal for Anthony Davis earlier this month and now have enough cap room to sign a max free agent. While Butler is a possibility, Los Angeles seems to be focused on snatching up Kawhi Leonard.
