Former player Kenyon Martin made a bold take regarding the fit for Giannis Antetokounmpo on the Miami Heat should the Milwaukee Bucks trade him to South Beach this offseason.
Antetokounmpo completed the 12th season of his NBA career with the Bucks. Since winning the championship in 2021, his squad has been unable to return to those heights. They have suffered three consecutive first-round exits and missed the playoffs in the last four seasons.
The lack of success since 2021 has further ramped up rumors regarding Antetokounmpo's future with the franchise. Several teams have expressed interest in landing the superstar's talents, including the Heat.
Martin is aware of the Heat's interest level in him, talking about the scenario on the Gil's Arena podcast. He believes that the fit would be better if Kel'el Ware paired with Antetokounmpo in the frontcourt instead of Bam Adebayo.
“Miami, do you do him and Bam together? I don’t know. I would like to see him and Kel’el Ware more than him and Bam. I think Kel’el shoots the ball from the perimeter… He spreads the floor in that regard. The new 5 of the NBA. Giannis plays downhill. I like his athleticism. I like that defensively for them…. It’s on Pat to do his job if that is his situation down there,” Martin said.
Kenyon Martin believes Giannis would be a better fit with Kel’el Ware, over Bam:

What lies ahead for Heat amid Giannis Antetokounmpo rumors
Giannis Antetokounmpo hopes for his situation with the Bucks to clear up as trade rumors about him and the Heat continue to be active.
Antetokounmpo went through multiple injuries throughout the 2025-26 campaign, only playing in 36 games. He averaged 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game in those appearances. He had shooting splits of 62.4% from the field, including 33.3% from beyond the arc, and 65% from the free-throw line.
Milwaukee finished with a 33-49 record this past season, settling for 11th place in the Eastern Conference standings. They were above the Chicago Bulls and the Brooklyn Nets while being under the Heat and the Charlotte Hornets.
