The Charlotte Hornets made a big splash this offseason with the acquisition of former All-Star center Dwight Howard from the Atlanta Hawks.

In light of that move, his new teammate Kemba Walker told SiriusXM NBA on Tuesday morning that the addition of Howard is a major move for the Charlotte.

Despite his continued dip in offensive production, Howard is still performing a high level coming off a solid campaign with the Hawks where he averaged 13.5 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in 29.7 minutes per game. In fact, this was the lowest-scoring output and minutes total since his rookie season. He finished fifth in the league in rebounding, fourth in field goal percentage (63.3), and sixth with double-doubles (53).

Howard has an opportunity to take up a prominent offensive role alongside Walker that could see him bounce back to All-Star form. The former three-time Defensive Player of the Year could help strengthen their defense as the primary rim protector. Meanwhile, Walker is coming off his best individual season where he averaged a career-high 23.2 points on 43.3 percent from the field and 39.9 percent from beyond the arc that helped him earn his first All-Star selection. He also set a franchise single-season record with 240 made three-pointers.

The two could form a formidable duo that could bring the Hornets back into the playoff picture as one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference.
