Islands of Insight, the avant-garde puzzle-solving game that also boasts a shared online experience, will now have an offline mode.

Since the game’s release, fans have been asking for Islands of Insight to have an offline mode. Two months later, developer Lunarch Studios is finally giving players what they wanted.

Of course, there’s always the concern about developers having to be able to have a game played the way they made it to be. For Islands of Insight, that means playing the game online and sharing the same game world with other players. But practically, this shared-world experience doesn’t have a significant impact on the game’s main serving: the puzzles.

Hence, Islands of Insight wouldn’t have lost any value with the game having an offline mode. Playing online and sharing a world with others just elevates the experience. So, it’s an easy call to make for Lunarch Studios. Just give your playerbase what they want.

This also comes as the hype and interest for Islands of Insight has mellowed down. From a peak of about 2,000 concurrent players at launch, the game now struggles to reach a 1,000 daily concurrent number. With this upcoming update, some players might be more interested in the game now that it doesn’t require a steady online connection – something that many in the world still struggle with.

As for a release timeline, Lunarch Studios didn’t give an exact date for when fans can expect this update to drop. To get updated, follow the news through the Steam page‘s announcements and official social media channels on X and TikTok, as well as the Islands of Insight official website.

Islands of Insight Demo, Steam Cerebral Puzzle Showcase

Speaking of getting more players into the game, Islands of Insight has a playable demo that interested gamers could check out. It’s up on Steam, and the demo itself can be downloaded, although at this point still needs an online connection to play.

Once the game gets an offline mode, hopefully, more players flock to it. Offline mode makes the game playable now when you bring your Steam Deck in your travels, although the (minor) pre-existing control issues are still there.

Publisher Behaviour Interactive also managed to get Islands of Insight into the Steam Cerebral Puzzle Showcase. Running for a week from May 23 to May 30, the Steam Cerebral Puzzle Showcase will expose players to the platforms most mind-bending challenges. From puzzles to narrative brain teasers, Steam has it all.

Watch out for live streams of Islands of Insight happening on its Steam page while the event is ongoing.

Islands of Insight came out on the PC through Steam on February 13, 2024. It was developed by Lunarch Studios and published by Behaviour Interactive.
