Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell is planning to play in Game 1 of the first round on Sunday. Mitchell will play “barring any setbacks” after missing just over a month with an ankle injury, according to Andy Larsen of The Salt Lake Tribune.

Mitchell suffered the injury back on April 16 against the Indiana Pacers. He missed the rest of the regular season, but the Jazz still finished with the best record in the NBA at 52-20. The guard went through a full practice on Thursday.

Utah is still waiting to find out its first-round opponent. The Golden State Warriors will host the Memphis Grizzlies in the play-in tournament on Friday to determine the No. 8 seed in the playoffs.

Donovan Mitchell was in the midst of a career year for the Jazz before suffering this ankle injury. He finished the regular season with career-high averages of 26.4 points, 5.2 assists and 4.4 rebounds in 33.4 minutes per game. The 24-year-old shot 43.8% from the field and 38.6% on 3-pointers.

With Mitchell and Gobert leading the way, Utah stormed out of the gates and dominated most of the season. While the Phoenix Suns made a charge and even briefly took the No. 1 spot in the West, the Jazz took it back to earn that No. 1 seed.

Utah will be looking for some playoff revenge after suffering a brutal first-round loss last season against the Denver Nuggets. The Jazz were up 3-1 in the series before losing the final three games. Donovan Mitchell was an absolute monster and will look to lead his team to victory against the No. 8 seed.
