Jesse “Jerax” Vainikka returns to competitive Dota 2 play, completing the new Evil Geniuses roster.

Two-time The International champion Jerax returns from retirement, almost two years after leaving his longtime team OG, way back in January 2020. He initially retired from competitive play after winning back-to-back TI championship, citing a loss in his drive to win and compete in Dota 2.

Now donning a new jersey, it seems like Jerax is back to win more championships with a new organization. With Jerax, EG's new roster is as follows:

  1. Artour “Arteezy” Babaev
  2. Abed “Abed” Yusop
  3. Egor “Nightfall” Grigorenko
  4. Andreas “Crit-” Nielsen
  5. Jesse “Jerax” Vainikka

As part of EG, Jerax will be moving to the position 5 support, an adjustment from his usual playmaking position 4 support back when he was with OG. He reunites with former OG teammate Crit-, who captains EG. Jerax's move to Evil Geniuses supplants Fly, who is now part of the new Talon Esports roster in Southeast Asia.

Meanwhile, Nightfall, formerly of Virtus.pro, joins as the team's new offlaner. He replaces iceiceice, who is now part of Team Secret.

Evil Geniuses had a devastating loss in the lower bracket in The International 2021, finishing only in the 9th-12th place in the world championship. With the addition of Jerax and Nightfall, the organization is looking strong. Will this newly formulated roster be strong enough to turn the dies of battle in the DPC 2021-2022 season?
