A trade involving Carson Wentz from the Philadelphia Eagles appears to be imminent as the Eagles are fielding offers for the former No. 2 overall pick. According to league sources who have spoken to ESPN's Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter, a Wentz trade could give the New York Jets an estimate on what they could get for Sam Darnold.

It remains to be seen what the final trade package will look like if Wentz is dealt in the coming days. However, it's been reported that the Eagles are seeking multiple first-round picks and more for the struggling quarterback.

The two teams that have been regarded as the favorites to land Wentz are the Chicago Bears and the Indianapolis Colts. Regardless of who trades for Wentz, that will decrease the list of quarterback-needy teams by one.

Provided that, teams that are desperate to make a change under center could turn their attention to Darnold. Despite Darnold's lack of improvement in his first three seasons with the Jets, some believe that he could benefit from a change of scenery.

Since hiring Robert Saleh, the Jets have been non-committal on keeping Darnold, likely making him available if teams are prepared to make an offer. Though, it is undetermined what the asking price should be for a quarterback like Darnold.

Darnold, who will be turning 24 years old this summer, could be a name that teams call about soon. And if Wentz is in fact traded this offseason, then his deal could lay the groundwork for what it will take to acquire Darnold from the Jets.
