Before the national elections of 2009, the country saw for the first time a lot NBA players showing political interest.

It was something never seen much before as professional athletes opted to shy away from these, with their credibilities and images not to be placed in any controversy.

But times have changed. Now, more and more players have spoken openly about causes and some even appeared in advertisements. One of them is Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns.

The 2016 Rookie of the Year headlined a recent PSA asking the people of Minnesota to come out and exercise their right to vote on November 8.

Minnesota has been known to be a swing state and the voters are all urged to do their part on that day.

One of Minneapolis' most popular athletes and arguably the new face of the franchise, Towns, along with the people behind the ad aim to educate Minnesotans and increase the turnout of voters this coming elections.
