With a huge list of possible destinations for recent ask-out star Kevin Durant, it's no surprise teams are trying to budge into the KD sweepstakes. Landing a player with all-time scoring ability like Durant would change the trajectory of any franchise. While other teams are rabidly pursuing the 33-year-old star, Sacramento Kings big man Domantas Sabonis took a light hearted approach to his recruitment strategy.

Sabonis was spotted practicing with Durant and other NBA stars in Los Angeles this offseason. When asked about his own team's improvements over the summer, he made sure to bring up KD.

Via BasketNews:

“Kings are doing well. Shooters were needed, so we took three shooters. I think there will be a few more trades… We are waiting because a lot can still happen. We are waiting to see what Kevin Durant will do (smiles.). Everything can change dramatically.”

Sabonis continued to bring up Durant to the press, but cleared things up when asked about Sacramento's actual chances of landing KD: “I don't think it might happen. But maybe it will work out?”

Even jokingly, it is interesting to think about a trio of Durant, Sabonis and young point guard De'Aaron Fox. Combining Fox's speed and passing ability with the offensive skill sets of KD and Sabonis would turn the Kings into a dark horse powerhouse. The Kings have improved their collection of role players this summer, perhaps adding the former Finals MVP would be the final piece necessary for contention.

Like Sabonis' comments, that kind of speculation is mostly unserious. But, you never know.
