Portland Trail Blazers forward Carmelo Anthony is still keeping tabs on his old team the New York Knicks. The 10-time All-Star recently addressed the team's recent front office shake-up by welcoming Leon Rose as new president of basketball operations.

Per Marc Berman of the New York Post, Anthony vouched for his agent, who also represented other superstars like LeBron James and Allen Iverson in the past. The 35-year-old said the Knicks will greatly benefit from Rose's emphasis on maintaining great player relationships.

“Player relations, he’s very big on that,” Anthony said. “Deal-making, very big on that. Communicating. Knowing personnel. He’s been in this game for a long time. He’s represented the best of the best in this game. He knows. He’s made deals. That’s just what he does. He’s good at running his organization and his own business.

Currently in the middle of yet another dreadful season, the Knicks followed the growing trend of giving player agents the keys to an entire organization. The Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers have found success with this tactic, hiring Bob Myers and Rob Pelinka, respectively.

Carmelo Anthony, meanwhile, understands that Leon Rose will indeed have his work cut out for him in trying to fix the Knicks' losing culture. But if there's anyone who can point the distraught franchise to the right direction, Melo believes New York has found the right man to do the job.

“If I knew him the way I think I know him, he’s going to take his time slow walking as far as right now. He’s going to get in there, he’s going to feel everything out, he’s going to talk to people. He’s going to get his feet wet. In the offseason is where he’s going to get it going.”
