With just nine games remaining on the New York Knicks' schedule after tonight's contest against the Minnesota Timberwolves, it will finally be able to turn the page on what has turned out to be a forgettable 2017-18 season for the Knicks.

One of the issues that New York immediately plans to address over the offseason, likely through the 2018 NBA Draft, is the need for a true small forward in their lineup.

According to Knicks beat reporter Ian Begley of ESPN, one of the players who the Knicks believe can fill that void is University of Kentucky star forward Kevin Knox.

Jeff Hornacek told reporters that SF is a need for NYK this offseason. So it’s worth noting that members of the organization earlier this month viewed Kentucky’s Kevin Knox as a potential draft target, per sources. As noted earlier, some are also fans Mikal Bridges (Villanova), Miles Bridges (Michigan State),” Begley tweeted on Friday.

Earlier this week, Hornacek also told Al Iannazzone of Newsday that the Knicks really need to address the small forward position to simply keep up with the rest of the teams across the league.

“I think if you look around at the top teams that are in the league they have multiple guys that are in the 6-7, 6-8 range with length,” Hornacek said. “We had a lot of guys that are in the 6-5ish range. Just to get bigger at some of those spots and just continue to work on the chemistry.”

As much as Hornacek likes to speculate about what New York needs to do, his job status for next season as the Knicks' head coach seems to be what is most in doubt.
