ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith is hearing that the New York Knicks want to hire Jason Kidd as their next head coach so they can lure Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo to The Big Apple.

Antetokounmpo and Kidd have a strong relationship which they built during Kidd's time with the Bucks. Giannis can become an unrestricted free agent in 2021:

Kidd played for the Knicks for one season back in 2012. After he retired, Kidd coached the Brooklyn Nets and Bucks before being fired from Milwaukee in January of 2018.

A Hall of Famer and one of the best point guards in NBA history, Kidd is currently an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Knicks have been a walking disaster for years under owner James Dolan. New York hasn't gotten a big time free agent since Dolan bought the team.

The Bucks can offer Antetokounmpo the supermax extension after this season ends. By all accounts, Giannis loves playing for Milwaukee and doesn't have any interest in playing in a big market. He has said in the past that he does not like big market cities like Los Angeles and New York.

The Knicks are desperate right now. Nothing has gone right for them this decade. At this point, the franchise will always be putrid as long as Dolan is the owner.
