Anthony Davis is left to rue a huge WHAT IF now that the Los Angeles Lakers are out of the NBA Playoffs. Because that's what usually happens after a loss. The mind is conditioned to stew over futile possibilities.

In a valiant effort, Davis tried to play thru his groin injury in their win-or-go-home Game 7 against the Phoenix Suns. But spiritual valiance succumbs to physical pain, and that's exactly what happened to AD. He only played five unproductive minutes and just like that, his season was over.

Clearly, his first agenda now is to recuperate. He and the rest of the Lakers had an exhausting run dating back from their NBA championship run last season. So while they saw their title defense tour get abruptly canceled, an extended rest is surely welcome. Davis, however, isn't exactly sure how quickly he will heal from his groin injury (via Lakers Daily).

“I’m gonna talk to my trainer, Ish (Ishop), and see what their plan is. He’ll probably call me tomorrow and we’ll figure that out, but no I don’t (the exact timeline). They said before, when it first happened, that a 10-14 day injury is usually what it is with a Grade 1, so after tonight where I re-aggravated it, I don’t know if it will be another 14 (days) or whatever, but I’ll talk to him tomorrow and try to see what the plan is.”

Davis was on a tear against the Suns as the Lakers took a 2-1 lead. But things soured for the 28-year-old big man as he got hurt in Game 4.

Anthony Davis has dealt with various injuries throughout his NBA career, leaving some people to wonder if he's the right cornerstone for the Purple & Gold beyond the LeBron James era.
