In Game 3 of the first-round series between his Los Angeles Lakers and the Phoenix Suns, Anthony Davis was seen at times grabbing his knee or his hamstring. He powered through and led the Purple and Gold to victory, but his endurance level in this series was freshly thrown into question.

New questions have surfaced about Davis' status before Sunday's Game 4 for the Lakers against the Suns:

Anthony Davis promptly shot down those questions with a clear and unequivocal response which certainly indicates that he will play for the Lakers on Sunday:

This series between the Lakers and Suns has been dominated by injury-based uncertainty after a regular season marred by a lot of attrition and carnage. Donovan Mitchell and Jamal Murray suffered injuries which have affected, to varying degrees, the strength of the non-Laker teams in the Western Conference.

Then, early in this series, Chris Paul of the Suns absorbed an injury which has limited his minutes and overall effectiveness against the Lakers, who have taken a 2-1 series lead. The injury calls to mind the 2018 Western Conference finals, in which Paul's injury quite legitimately prevented the Houston Rockets from beating the Golden State Warriors. It's true that Andre Iguodala of the Dubs was also injured midway through that series, but it remains that if Paul hadn't gotten injured, the Rockets had a great chance to capitalize on the Iggy injury and advance to the NBA Finals.

Anthony Davis will play on Sunday in Game 4. That much seems certain at this point. How effective he will be remains in question, though getting two days off between Thursday's Game 3 and Sunday's Game 4 could be crucial for the Lakers.

The Lakers and NBA fans are wondering if Anthony Davis's body will cooperate through the four potential postseason series he will have to win if the Lake Show is going to defend its NBA championship. For now, Davis knows he will at least be able to take the floor with a chance to gain a 3-1 lead in a first-round series.

The Lakers would love to finish off the Suns in five instead of being roped into a seven-game grinder. Anthony Davis knows how important it is to minimize strain on his body in the coming days and weeks.
