The Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Phoenix Suns to end their season on Thursday night, marking the first-ever first-round exit for LeBron James in his legendary career. On Friday, NBA and Lakers legend Magic Johnson let everybody know his true feelings regarding the season with some tweets. Magic then went on the radio and put Dennis Schroder on blast as he aims for a big payday in free agency.

Harsh criticism from Magic, isn't it? It is tough to place the blame on Schroder, whom the Lakers acquired in the offseason for Danny Green and a first-round pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

At times, Schroder looked the part of starting point guard on a championship team. At other times, he looked responsible for the Lakers' collapse, and the infamous Game 5 goose egg will live forever with Lakers fans everywhere.

Schroder spent the first part of his career with the Atlanta Hawks and then played the previous two seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder before coming to the Lakers. In his lone season in purple and gold, Schroder averaged 15.4 points with 5.8 assists in 61 games. Schroder missed some time due to COVID-19 protocols towards the end of the year, but Magic's words are a bit interesting.

As the offseason starts earlier than expected for the Lakers, it will be an interesting tidbit to keep an eye on the situation surrounding Schroder, who turned down a huge contract from the Lakers as he aimed to seek in excess of $100 million.

Of course, Schroder apparently wants to be back, and who wouldn't want to run it back with LeBron James and Anthony Davis, especially if they are at full strength? Only time will tell if the team views Schroder as part of their future plans, but Magic Johnson didn't hold back one bit regarding the Lakers starting floor general.
