LaVar Ball never misses a chance to speak his mind, and the Cleveland Cavaliers just gave him plenty of material to work with.

Following the Cavaliers being swept by the New York Knicks, the outspoken Ball patriarch went on record to blast Cleveland for how things played out with his son Lonzo Ball. LaVar did not hold back, pointing directly at the organization and questioning how they traded the veteran guard when they truly needed his presence. “They got my son Lonzo for this exact moment,” LaVar said. “Y'all didn't get him for the season, you got him for this right here and look how you get blown out.”

The comments hit hard given the context. Cleveland brought Lonzo in with postseason ambitions in mind but then traded him away the NBA trade deadline to the Utah Jazz as a salary dump, and the sweep at the hands of the Knicks made the acquisition look like a costly miscalculation. LaVar made sure everyone knew exactly how he felt about the way his son's time with the Cavaliers ended, placing the blame squarely on the organization rather than the player.

But LaVar did not stop at criticism. He ended his remarks with a direct callout to the Charlotte Hornets, essentially asking them to sign Lonzo going forward. “Charlotte go get them boys,” he said, making his preference for his son's next destination crystal clear. It was a classic LaVar move, turning a postgame rant into an impromptu free agency pitch.

Whether the Hornets take the bait remains to be seen. Charlotte has been in rebuild mode and adding a veteran playmaker like Lonzo could make sense depending on their offseason direction. For now, though, LaVar Ball has done what he always does: dominated the conversation and made sure his son stays in the headlines.
