Free-agent pitcher Marcus Stroman engaged in a series of tweets as he reacted to the retention of Tony La Russa at the helm despite being charged with his second DUI case. He then gave indications that he wasn't intending to sign with the Chicago White Sox due to the manager's recent involvements, via Jon Becker.

It wasn't the first time that La Russa made the headlines for the wrong reasons. He previously plead guilty to a misdemeanor DUI case which happened in Jupiter, Florida back in 2007 while he was serving as a manager for the St. Louis Cardinals.

Several years later, La Russa was involved in another similar case back in February in Phoenix as per ESPN. The White Sox reportedly had knowledge of the situation before they decided to hire him two weeks ago to replace Rick Renteria who held the position from 2017 to 2020.

According to a high-ranking White Sox official via USA Today Sports, Tony La Russa is in no danger of losing his job, or receiving any discipline by the club despite his actions.

La Russa's involvement won't bode well especially for free agents like Stroman who are exploring their options in the midst of the offseason. The 29-year-old player was an All-Star back in 2019 but a torn left calf muscle injury kept him out of the early stages of the 2020 season. After he recovered, he then announced that he would opt out of the season which ultimately ended his one-year stint with the New York Mets.

With Marcus Stroman not looking to take his talents to the Windy City, Tony La Russa and the rest of the White Sox will have to look in another direction for their efforts to reclaim the AL Central division next season.
