New Dallas Mavericks coach Jason Kidd will forever be known as one of the most intelligent players in NBA history. His basketball IQ was legendary. He always made the right reads, wise decisions, and brilliant executions.
The same, however, couldn't be said as much for a TikTok video featuring Kidd and several Mavericks players, including Kristaps Porzingis, Willie Cauley-Stein, Jalen Brunson, Reggie Bullock, etc. All of them were asked to choose between rap superstars Drake and Kanye West.
Kidd, who was the first to answer, gave a rather eyebrow-raising comment in picking Drake. Just see the video for yourself (via Dallas Mavericks).

WTH? We'll leave the judgment up to you. But at face value, that didn't sound right at all. Kidd should know that.
The Hall of Fame guard, who helped the Mavericks win the 2011 NBA title, has been mired in several controversies in the past, including physical abuse on his wife and driving while intoxicated. Still, he's remained as one of the most respected people in the NBA, landing the Mavericks job after helping the Los Angeles Lakers win the 2020 NBA title as an assistant coach.
He's already had stints with the Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets as well, although they were short-lived.
Kidd is expected to be a personal mentor to Mavericks star guard Luka Doncic since they are both elite playmakers and they are both light-skinned. See how ridiculous-sounding that last part was?
