The New York Mets are trading for Cleveland Indians All-Star shortstop Francisco Lindor and nobody is more hyped about the huge move than right-hand starting pitcher Marcus Stroman.

Lindor, a four-time All-Star and Gold Glove winner, joins a Mets team chock full of talent, including two great pitchers in Stroman and two-time Cy Young Award winner Jacob deGrom. After a change in ownership in the offseason, the Mets are predicted to compete in the 2021 MLB season.

Stroman tweeted through his emotions on Thursday afternoon witnessing the trade rumors and eventual agreement unfold online.

The Long Island, New York native and right-handed pitcher—traded to his hometown Mets in July 2019—took to Twitter to thank new team owner Steve Cohen, a Great Neck resident and hedge fund billionaire who purchased the club from the infamously thrifty Wilpon family.

A former member of the Toronto Blue Jays' starting rotation, Stroman is familiar with American League team Cleveland, who plans to change their name away from “Indians” much like the Washington Football Team, and knows Lindor and fellow new acquisition in pitcher Carlos Carrasco as “humble” and “down-to-earth.”

It's unclear when All-Star right-hand pitcher Noah Syndergaard will return healthy from Tommy John surgery, but the Mets should deploy an intimidating starting rotation with deGrom, Stroman, Carrasco, and Syndergaard, with last year's rookie David Peterson having a strong debut.

Additionally, the Mets have sluggers in Pete Alonso, Michael Conforto, and Dominic Smith. They signed free-agent catcher James McCann to a four-year deal in the winter.

With Francisco Lindor on board, the Mets are shaping up to be one of the most talked-about and competitive clubs in 2021.
