Minnesota Twins star pitcher Joe Ryan has seen his name involved in trade rumors for over a year now. However, as each day gets closer and closer to the 2026 MLB trade deadline, it does feel as if Ryan will likely be traded. The Twins must take advantage of his value as a young pitcher before it is too late.

We are just over one month away from the deadline, and the Twins are in third place in the AL Central division with a 38-43 record. They are only two games out of the Wild Card spot, so the Twins won't trade him until they have an idea if they will be contending or not. This potential move shouldn't happen until closer to the end of July at the earliest.

The Athletic has ranked the top players on the market with the likelihood of them actually being traded. Ryan is ranked at No. 3 and is the highest-ranked player with a “green light” on the likelihood.

“The non-Skubal pitching prize of the deadline, Ryan added a new knuckle curve to his mix this year and looks to be in the midst of a career year. That pitch is the best breaking ball he’s ever thrown, and putting that into an arsenal with a deceptive fastball and decent splitter means he’s cooking with gas. Yes, Ryan is a fly ball guy heading to the homer months with a lively ball. But he’s also had success while giving up homers in the past, and this new arsenal may help him avoid those issues this year.”

Ryan is not the only player on the market for the Twins. Byron Buxton is there at No. 2 despite a very slim chance he gets traded due to his no-trade clause and is unwilling to leave. Royce Lewis has now been added to the market after recent rumors. The Twins, just like last season, will be a team to watch at the deadline. Stay tuned.
