The second half of the MLB season officially begins on Thursday after a thrilling two days of All-Star festivities. Unfortunately, the marquee series between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox will be postponed for the time being after positive cases of COVID-19 within the Bronx Bombers' organization:

This game was the only one scheduled in the majors for Thursday, with the rest of the league set to return to action on Friday. The Yankees and Red Sox rivalry is as good as it gets and these two teams are currently fighting tooth to make the playoffs.

Boston is currently at the top of the AL East with a 55-36 record after a tremendous first-half, while New York sits eight games back of their foes. This isn't the first COVID-19 problem the Yankees have faced this season, either. Earlier in the year, seven coaches reportedly tested positive, including a couple of players as well like Gleyber Torres.

This is certainly not ideal for the ball club as they look to make some noise and make a run at a spot in the postseason. It's not yet known if Wandy Peralta and Nestor Cortes are the only casualties, but this is definitely a problem for the Yankees.
