Minnesota Twins third baseman Josh Donaldson homered in the sixth inning to give his team a 3-2 lead over the Chicago White Sox. Hilariously, he was then ejected.
Donaldson had a disagreement with home plate umpire Dan Bellino prior to homering off White Sox starter Reynaldo Lopez.
The former American League MVP responded by purposefully kicking dirt on the plate after making his way around the bases. Bellino ejected him almost immediately, with Donaldson spreading some more dirt before making his way back to the clubhouse:
Josh Donaldson may be the first and only player in baseball history to get ejected while hitting a home run. Amazing. pic.twitter.com/C8zwgyerQp

After a long debate about a strike call, Josh Donaldson puts the Twins ahead by turning on a 91 mph LĂłpez fastball to left, then gets tossed at home plate. What a sequence.

Donaldson's teammates certainly seemed to appreciate the gesture despite him getting kicked out of a crucial AL Central contest.
The White Sox led Minnesota by just 2.0 games entering Thursday's game, and Minnesota is desperately hoping to capitalize on every opportunity to gain ground on a surprising Chicago team.
Donaldson helped give the Twins the lead, but he is no longer available as the Twins attempt to close the deal. Minnesota escaped a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the inning, and it looks like this will be a nail-biter the rest of the way.
