In an age where internet trolls can contact athletes directly in a heartbeat on social media, we have seen an uptick in players sending salty responses to defend their name from someone who is completely irrelevant to them.

This unfortunate trend is ridiculous and usually makes the athlete look silly for responding to a stranger hiding behind a screen.

Thankfully, Blazers guard CJ McCollum bucked this defensive trend by responding to a troll with humor instead of anger.

After McCollum responded to a headline that featured his controversial comments about chasing rings, a Twitter user with the username Jennifer Williams sent a spiteful tweet to McCollum, referencing the Blazers' postseason woes and their most recent sweep at the hands of the New Orleans Pelicans. McCollum took the slight in stride and responded masterfully.

This led to a string of hilarious memes that ragged on the heckler and showed how ridiculous the whole situation was.

On a serious note, the Blazers do have a lot of work to do this season if they want to be legitimate contenders.

They have two stars in McCollum and Lillard, but their roster is extremely top heavy. The team was exposed in the aforementioned sweep last season, as Anthony Davis destroyed the Blazers' defense and Jrue Holiday did an admirable job of guarding two of the best guards in the league.

Unless the Blazers make some big additions and bulk up their bench, Jennifer is going to have to wait longer for that playoff win.
