The Golden State Warriors are fresh off taking their first-ever loss in a Game 1 of the NBA Finals under Steve Kerr, and only their second-ever Game 1 loss of any playoff series under Kerr, snapping a 12-series record. Yet point guard Stephen Curry, who led all scorers with 34 points in a 118-109 loss on Thursday night, remains “VERY” confident about his team's chances:

“You can just say I'm very confident, ‘VERY' in all capital letters,” Curry told Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports before heading to do his post-game media duties.

The Warriors admittedly used Game 1 as a feel-out game heading into this series, only having played the Raptors twice this season, and doing so in less-than-ideal conditions both times.

After turning the ball over 16 times and finding themselves defending transition buckets from fast-break extraordinaire Pascal Siakam, the defending champions now know what to expect after frustrating Kawhi Leonard for four quarters to open the series.

The Raptors have already proven to be a worthy and sound opponent, able to adjust on the fly, as they quickly bottled up Curry after he had three wide-open looks at 3-point attempts and finished the first quarter with 11 points.

Curry's next 23 points would be hard to come by, forced to get most of them through the free-throw line, as Toronto's physical play clearly had a toll on his body through his 40 minutes of play.

Yet the Warriors have a championship pedigree for a reason and are unlikely to be rattled by a series-opening loss. This is the fifth series in which the Warriors have trailed under Kerr, but they have won the previous four.
