NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley isn't a fan of the people who are pushing the LeBron James MVP narrative. Barkley says Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is the MVP, and it's not even close.

“You're an idiot if you vote for LeBron over Giannis for MVP,” Charles Barkley told Dan Le Batard and Stugotz on ESPN radio. “Imagine LeBron being 53-9 with Khris Middleton as his next best player and losing the MVP. The media is stupid.”

The Lakers have the best record in the Western Conference at 47-13. LeBron is leading the NBA in assists, but since the Bucks have the top record in the league again, most pundits believe Giannis will win his second consecutive MVP trophy.

If that happens, it won’t really bother James. The King has bigger fish to try, as he’s trying to win his fourth NBA championship and bring banner No. 17 to the Lakers franchise.

LeBron James is averaging 25.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and 10.7 assists on the season. He’s shooting 49.7 percent from the field, 35.1 percent from beyond the arc and 69.3 percent from the free-throw line.

Now that he’s healthy again, LeBron has been active on defense, something we didn’t see last season when he was dealing with that groin injury. The Lakers need James to be elite on defense during the NBA playoffs if they are going to win the whole thing.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, meanwhile, is putting up 29.6 points, 13.8 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game for Milwaukee. He’s shooting 54.8 percent overall, 30.9 percent from the 3-point line and 62.9 percent from the charity stripe.
