Former NBA center Kendrick Perkins viciously trolled ESPN's Stephen A. Smith for saying there is no gap between LeBron James and Kevin Durant when it comes to being the best player in the league.

Perkins, who is a noted James fan and former teammate, said the gap between LeBron and Durant is so huge that it's like the distance between the hairline of Smith and his eyebrows.

Kudos to Stephen A. Smith for being a good sport with all of this. The NBA personality has never shied away from making fun of his hairline and what Kendrick Perkins said was obviously in good fun.

Kevin Durant missed the entire 2019-20 season for the Brooklyn Nets recovering from the Achilles tear he suffered in the 2019 Finals as a member of the Golden State Warriors. LeBron James, meanwhile, is one win away from winning his fourth NBA championship and first with the Los Angeles Lakers.

While Durant is considered one of the best pure scorers in NBA history, James is clearly the better all-around player. After all, LeBron is the only player in NBA history to rank top 10 all-time in points and assists.

The debate between James and Durant will be more relevant next season once Durant is back in action. For now, though, James deserves the title as the best player in the NBA since he's arguably been the top player for the Lakers on their championship run since the 2020 playoffs started.

Entering Game 5 against the Miami Heat in the 2020 Finals, James is averaging 26.9 points, 10.5 rebounds and 8.8 assists in 19 games in the 2020 postseason.
