The Dallas Mavericks are willing to forget their past involving big man DeAndre Jordan. All that matters to them involving the current L.A. Clippers center is their future with him.
According to Marc Stein of The New York Times, the Mavs are in the process of weighing their best options in trying to get Jordan from the Clippers via a trade.
DeAndre Jordan has a player option with the Clippers for the 2018-19 season, which is worth $24.1 million. However, it was recently reported that even if Jordan elected to pick up that option, he is expected to continue talking with the Clippers for a possible trade. After the Clippers swapped Austin Rivers for Washington Wizards center Marcin Gortat on Tuesday, the belief that Jordan is soon going to be an ex-Clipper only intensified.

Of course, the elephant in the room here is the fact that Jordan once committed to sign with the Mavs back in 2015 as a free agent only to change course and decide to head back to the Clippers, who then immediately signed him to a four-year deal.
Dallas, however, does not seem to be a team that holds grudges, especially if they have the opportunity to get one of the premier big men in the NBA today. With rookies Luka Doncic and Jalen Brunson joining Dennis Smith Jr. in the Mavs’ backcourt, the team’s priority is now on beefing up their slim frontcourt that has Maxi Kleber currently on top of the team’s center depth chart.
Last season, Jordan averaged 12.0 points, 15.2 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks per game for the Clippers.
