Brooklyn Nets swingman Caris LeVert will not require surgery after dislocating his right foot at the end of the first half on Monday night, according to the team. The Michigan product is expected to make a full recovery and return before the end of the regular season.

This is encouraging news for the Nets and many fans who were anxious to see the young wing flourish. LeVert had already been showing signs of a massive improvement, averaging 18.4 points per game to start the season.

LeVert suffered the injury with 0.3 seconds left in the first half when he tried to challenge a drive by Minnesota Timberwolves guard Josh Okogie. LeVert landed awkwardly and sustained the injury, which many claimed resembled that of Gordon Hayward's during last year's season opener.

Hayward was forced to miss the entire 2017-18 season after dislocating his ankle and shattering his tibia, but it appears LeVert's similarly nasty injury can be rehabbed so he can avoid going under the knife altogether.

The Nets are confident that LeVert will make a return this season, despite leaving the court on a wheelchair last night, leaving many of his teammates in tears and trying to shake the horrific image of his injury.

Head coach Kenny Atkinson described LeVert as his best player and “the heart and soul” of his team, but Brooklyn will have to sail the ship north until his return — hopefully a sound one, as he was headed for a breakout year.
